【摘要】:ARockwellhardnessnumberisanumberderivedfromthenetincreaseindepthimpressionastheloadonanindenterisincreasedfromafixedminorloadtoamajorloadandthenreturnedtoaminorload(ProcedureA).ARockwellalpha(x03B1;)hardnessnumberrepresentsthemaximumpossibleremainingtravelofashort-strokemachinefromthenetdepthofimpression,astheloadontheindenterisincreasedfromafixedminorloadtoamajorload(ProcedureB).Indentersareroundsteelballsofspecificdiameters.Rockwellhardnessnumbersarealwaysquotedwithascalesymbolrepresentingtheindentersize,load,anddialscaleused.ThistestmethodisbasedonTestMethodsE18.ProcedureA(Section11)yieldstheindentationofthespecimenremaining15safteragivenmajorloadisreleasedtoastandard10-kgminorload.ProcedureB(Section12)yieldstheindentationoftheindenterintothespecimenaftera15-sapplicationofthemajorloadwhiletheloadisstillapplied.EachRockwellscaledivisionrepresents0.002-mm[0.00008-in.]verticalmovementoftheindenter.Inpractice,theRockwellhardnessnumberisderivedfromthefollowingrelationship:where:HR
